Datalogging Vibration Meter Makes Plant & Industrial Vibration Diagnostics More Efficient

The new SDL800 Vibration Meter and Datalogger is optimized for plant diagnostics and predictive maintenance with a rugged design, flexible programming configurations and the convenience of datalogging readings directly onto an SD card in Excel format.

The new meter from Extech can be used to perform vibration analysis testing on a range of industrial plant components including bearings, compressors, conveyor systems, gearboxes, motors, pumps and other plant assets prone to premature wear indicated by unusual vibration.

“Vibration is everywhere in the manufacturing environment.  Vibration monitoring and analysis can reveal a lot to a plant technician, especially when measurements are made at different intervals over time,” said Mike Fox, General Manager at Extech Instruments. Fox adds, “To make vibration monitoring more efficient and comprehensive, the SDL800 datalogs readings making it easier to analyze, identify and report on anomalies.”

As part of Extech’s SDL datalogging instruments family, the SDL800 records directly to a Microsoft Excel® file, eliminating error-prone file conversions or imports. Users can measures acceleration, velocity and displacement. The meter’s wide frequency range from 10-1000 Hz meets ISO 2954. The large display indicates real-time measurements while data are saved to a 2GB SD card (included) for easy transfer to a laptop or PC. Sampling rates can be set from once every second to once every hour. Up to 20 million readings can be stored on one SD card. Additionally, up to 99 readings can be recorded manually.

Troubleshooting and repair decision-making become a lot easier with powerful tools like Extech’s SDL800 vibration meter with datalogging capabilities for monitoring over time, or before and after repairs. The meter includes a remote sensor for placement flexibility and a wide frequency range from 10Hz to 1kHz.  Three measurement modes can be selected: RMS, Peak Value and also Max Hold. Data functions include Min/Max, Zero, and Data Hold. The configurable Auto-Power-Off can be set to save batteries or disabled for extended monitoring.

Along with a 47.2” (1.2m) wired remote sensor with magnetic adaptor, 2 GB SD card and 6 AA batteries, the kit comes in a rugged storage case for easy transport from device to device.
