CT70/CT80 How does the Voltagge Drop test work without tripping the circuit breaker?

The CT tester checks the voltage drop on the power line by applying a short circuit to the power line at a low voltage point on the rising voltage cycle.  The meter measures the Peak current drawn by that short circuit test.  This measured peak current is compared to the Expected max current of the circuit.  The resulting percentage…See More

All of Extech's light meters can work with LED lights when they are used to compare different light sources. Let me explain:Our light meters measure visible light in the Human Photopic range. That means they measure light that the human eye can detect. LEDs also produce a "spike" of light in  the 410nm range (blue light) which is just outside of the Human eye detection area. If you are comparing light sources, Fluorescent to incandescent, to Sodium, to LED, etc. any of our light meters will…See More

RHT10 - Logger Setup will not remember my previous settings

When a user opens the RHT10 software and runs Logger Setup, the values they enter should be remembered for the next time.  This makes it easier for multiple loggers to be setup in the same way without having to perform multiple setup actions over again. When the RHT10 software loads, it places a file called  loggerconfig.ini  into the C:\WINDOWS folder. When a user edits the RHT10 logger setup, this "ini" file gets updated with the newest settings or I say it "should" get updated. Some recent…See More

TH10 - Will not connect

A few people have reported that when they received their TH10 temperature datalogger and proceeded to load the software, they found that either they were unable to load the software or when they did the TH10 would not connect to their PC. A number of CDs that went out with the TH10 dataloggers were found corrupted or missing the driver. The solution is to go to the Software downloads page on the Extech web site and download the TH10 Version 5.0 software. SAVE it to your hard drive, Unzip it…See More

RH520A temperature and humidity datalogger - wrong dates

We occasionally get a call on the RH520A, that the data has the wrong time and dates (2004).Why does this occur? When the RH520A is first powered on, by either batteries or AC power, the CPU immediately begins to record temperature and humidity data at the default CPU start date/time of 1/1/2004 00:00.  The data is recorded off of this initial date/time and sample rate (1.0 minute). To get your meter to record in the present;:After power on, set your Date, Time, and Sample rate, and then press…See More

How do I convert my Refractometer reading in Brix to a percentage

This is a tough one as it makes a difference depending on the type of material (Dissolved solid) in solution.Brix can be converted to Refractive Index, but to calculate a % of some material, there are other factors to consider. For a basic sugar in water solution it is simple:Brix = the mass of sugar relative to the mass of the sample.22 Brix = 22 grams of sugar in  78 grams of waterTotal mass = 100 gramsDivide 100 grams into the mass of the solid (Sugar) and you get 0.22 or 22%With a straight…See More
