I want some information on how to read my 480836 EMF meter. It does not seem to be discussed any where on this form.

Hello!

If you're talking about interpreting the readings you're getting from your EMF meter, unfortunately, as it stands there are no guidelines/standards to go on within the US Federal Government regarding safe/dangerous EMF levels. As of right now, I don't believe anyones 100% certain about how EMF affects us beyond theory.

I believe there are suggested standards and guidelines in Europe for what they believe is safe that you should be able to find online.

If this isn't exactly what you were trying to find out let me know, and I'll help you do some more digging!

Thanks for joining Planet Extech!
I hope that helps!
Thank you for your reply and I understand your answer, since we as humans are electrical, EMF does effect us. Some are more sensitive than others and we are all going to see more health problems as more wireless technology becomes available.
I know you sell these meters for some reason. I need to know why and how I can learn how to read it.
I will come to my own conclusion about safe levels. I need a how to read the meter and maybe a how to use PDF or video

Thanks again for entertaining this taboo topic .
Hi Jeffery -

I have the same question you do. In the last few months have you found any more information or resources?

thanks for posting the question
The topic seems to be mute since there are no guideline put out by big brother.
I am taking a class now and I am learning what they thank outside of this country.
This is Big News outside of America.

Sorry it took so long.
On a quest
Jeff
Has this model been benefitial to you? Have you used any others? I too am on a quest and was looking where to start.
It works fine but unless you know what your looking at it does not mean anything. I can read the meter but no acceptable guild lines to follow for safety. And I mean the real health guild lines. I am getting closer and will let you know.
Aren't these things used alot with Ghost Hunters. Maybe they someone in that arena would be able to shed a little light on it. Or am I off in left field.

The 480836 measures field strength according to the documentation. Electromagnetic fields have two components that are most commonly discussed, frequency and strength. This particular meter claims to be "optimized" for the frequencies used in Cellular phones (900, 1800, and 2700 Mhz). I'm not really sure what they mean by that (their manual doesn't include a schematic for the input stage).

Any time a conductor is carrying a variable current it has the potential to radiate electromagnetic waves. Generally when these waveforms are between 1,000 Hz and 3Ghz they are called "radio" waves, and above 3Ghz are the "light waves" and above light are the various "rays" (x-rays, gamma-rays, Etc.)

Radio waves are unable to influence humans (or human cells) unless they are at an intensity which can induce a current and at a coupling level which allows that current to move non-free electrons. The meter gives you an indication of the intensity of the radio waves it is measuring in milliVolts per square meter, milliAmps per square meter, or milliWatts (v * a) per square (or cubic) meter. They are however able to affect other electrical circuits and that is where this meter really shines.

To understand these values you should get a text book from the local library (or Univerisity) on Electromagnetic Fields (when I was in school this was an Junior level undergraduate class for Electrical Engineers and Physics majors).

If you are interested in the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, then once you understand the material presented in the textbook about the fields, it is fairly easy to build a field generator using an oscillator and an antenna (which you can calibrate using this meter) which can establish a known field strength around a biological culture (E.Coli is good for this, although fruitflys are also useful if you want a higher level organism to study). Good luck on your quest!

Other organisms does have a significant amount than other and some flies can also be used to determine the field strength although . Maybe you can check against a gas pump topper to see for results.
Chuck, thank you for your reply.
since your reply I have found a few books that help.
